TVx3 E036: What Are Your Favorite TV Websites?

This week we talked about online TV show counterparts, blogs, sites, online games, etc. after getting a couple of similar themed emails. Listener Shayne asked:

You three are very plugged in to the TV online universe: What are your favorite official show web sites/ARGs; fan sites, blogs, forums, pedias, podcasts, twitter feeds, facebook aps, etc.

And listener Nathan wanted to know:

I think it would be a great topic to talk about how these online counterparts to shows affect the show and are they worth it? I am talking about things like Harper's Globe for Harper's Island or the online LOST games that take people thru sites and such. Are they a good thing? Love to hear the topic discussed! Thanks!

So, we did are best to discus them on the podcast.

But, first we chatted about a couple of news items including Sci Fi Channel changing its name to Syfy and the announcement of Maura Tierney's medical situation and how that has affected her new show Parenthood.

After covering our news and topics, we talked a bit about So You Think You Can Dance, Weeds, Nurse Jackie, Make It or Break It, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Closer, and The Philanthropist.

If you've got thoughts on past episodes, this episode, or have a topic suggestion for us, use the SnapVine widget in the right column, leave a comment below, email us, or connect via Twitter.

So, what are your favorite TV blogs, sites, online games, etc.? Let us know in the comments.

Show Notes

  • We mentioned some 42 websites during the podcast, which will be compiled here in the near future. Also, the TVaholic has been down for the count with pneumonia, which was coming on during the recording of this podcast, which is why its posting has been so delayed. Hope you enjoy! Note: Won't be able to get to this list until after Comic Con.

  1. Can we talk Weeds for a second? I go back and forth on this show because I HATE Nancy but I have a (not so) secret crush on Hunter Parrish and Kevin Nealon is brilliant.

What happens for me is that I watch and am kind of ho hum and then there is a episode like Van Nuys or A Modest Proposal and I am laughing my ass off and I am back in. Doug and Silas in both episodes are brilliant and I am waiting for the Celia storyline to kick in because it will be good. Come on! “dead mexican!”? I watched that like 10 times.

I really enjoyed the topic this week. I have to say I don’t read as many blogs as I used to because of twitter. I tend to mark stuff as a favorite and read it later. If it doesn’t interest me when I get to it? Skip. Sad but true. Sometimes it takes me a week to get to blogs (as you guys can tell from my comments sometimes!)

I can’t wait to hear about CCSD plans are! I cannot even imagine the overwhelming overload of information (not to mention people!). There is some puny CC thing here in Dallas in August that I might go to. I haven’t seen anything about who will be there but I know it’s no where near as cool as what you guys will be doing!

  2. Another fine podcast!

OK–I must admit that hearing my comments about Impact read aloud made me realize that I did answer my own question! πŸ™‚

I must say that this past week’s funny episode of The Closer was definitely my favorite of the entire series so far, not just the season. Also, I agree with Jason on The Philanthropist. I can’t stand the storytelling format they are using. Still have the latest 2 episodes on the TiVo unwatched–plan to delete them and remove my season pass. Amrie–when will we get Podcast: The Musical?! πŸ™‚
